Looks like lots and lots of SMLEs. The Afghans have acquired a lot of weaponry over the years. Maybe they are concerned about how to dispose of it in an eco-friendly way. Ok maybe not.....

There are some bigger peices of kit as well. The Shuttleworth Collection rescued their Hawker Hind from Afghanistan in the 70's. And recently, the remains of a 1930's Italian Meridionali biplane were discovered and retrieved. Several Anson remains are also there. and any number of Migs and Mils. And allegedly also a Renault FT17 tank that originally dated from WW1, though it would have been re-engined and refurbished in the 30's.

Noticed weapons like the Vickers Berthier/Hotchkiss light machine guns?, Martini-Henry's and a box full of 18th century type spike bayonets.

There are more places like this over there, With billions of leftovers from the British Empire days and still working.

If you watched the footage produced in the 60th birthday piece for Israel, there was a moving FT17 in one sequence!

The working Lewis guns aren't in this photo collection and the armourers who build and repair these weapons are tradesmen of a old era.. Some markets are making replicas, working ones of western handguns and so on.
Still it would be great to go their and build up the ancient rifle collection.

I wish I could get my hands on some of those Mark III's.

They sell Martini Henrys at the bazaar on Kandahar Airbase, mostly dated 1871-3.
