Beyond Kokoda

I viewed this presentation last night and found it to be quite emotional on both sides. I think the Australian War Memorial financed part of this documentary. (I missed a bit of the start and was interrupted during the credits)

The photography, interviews and footage mix (real and staged) was really put together well.

There was real footage of Australian aircraft dropping supplies from a level which looked no more than 20-30 feet off the ground as they did not use parachutes.

I hope that it may be shown in the UK at some stage.

I wonder if it will be on the American Discovery channel ? - I'll keep looking for it ! ..... this site gives a good overall picture of the campaign also

Not sure about the UK and US however

This documentary has been nominated for an Australian Logie award.

Seems they are negotiating to have a DVD out sometime this year. I watched it again the other night. Very moving!

Smaja thanks for posting these links, I have had the pleasure many years ago to read the offical history of Aussie's fighting in WW2 in book form, ( also WW1) now that they have been digitlized it is fantastic.
