Yes that's him.
Thank Kyt

The Clydebank Council are erecting a new war memorial in Clydebank, hopefully by 11th Nov. For all the soldiers who died in WW1 & WW2, civilians too I think.
My great grandfather was on it, but not his four brothers.
I have now added them all on.
I would like to go up for the unveiling.
But been there already this year, we stayed in Glasgow, but I went to Edinburgh.
I found two wills and a letter for two of his brothers, which I copied, very, very sad to read.

Five brothers! One lose is bad but that is terrible.

It's good to hear of the new memorial. Now that that generation has nearly all passed there's only memorials and stories of their children/grandchildren to really remind people. Books just don't have the same feel.

Thanks for sharing the info with us, SP

The sad thing is apart from my nan, (Andrew Munn's daughter) who never knew her father, only one of the brothers married. So it really was a generation lost
He had 3 children,(one died young at work) but and I have met up with his grandson.
Which was great.

I am very passionate about making sure they are remembered.

I think Kitty's busy with school work at the moment so we may have a wee wait before she posts hers.

There is a Western Australia similarity here however I cannot find the details.

Will check back

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

Ooh me too, I have just a course at Birkbeck University of London, An Introductions to the Archives.
Just finished my essay.

I started second course last week, aiming for a Diploma in History.

Looking forward to hearing about the Western Australian similarity Andy.

One branch of my Scottish Munn's moved to New South Wales in the 1850's
They now have Munn's Towers there, and a Munn Street.
My cousin is in touch with the descendants there.

Ooooh Im all for sharing pics of my collections. I have a very worn death plaque that we rescued from a dealer. Not sure who its for as it was put away.

When I get the laptop sorted and talking to the internet again I'll start posting pics.

And trust me Petts, now you have started you'll never be able to stop. Dear god its expensive, you get your trench art off ebay at all? Always lots to be had. And sweetheart brooches, i see lots of RE ones going through

Hi Kitty

I am going to start taking pictures at the weekend.

I have bought some pieces of eBay, some lovely post cards too.
R.E Sweetheart badges, there are lots of them for sale on eBay.

I am glad you rescued the Death plaque, not for A.MUNN is it?
I bet I will never find his one, probably was melted down.

Looking forward to seeing you collection.

I really am not sure who it is for. I have to go through a big pile of boxes on top of the wardrobe to find it again.

Hopefully the laptop will be talking to the internet by tomorrow as I currently have it going through its 3rd scan today.
