The Sinking of Wilhelm Gustoff

Another good article by Mike Kemble.
The Russian sub S13 was responsible for the sinking of this ship.

Wilhelm Gustloff, 10,000 dead?

A dreadful business. And ironic that the Germans who started unrestricted submarine warfare should suffer so heavily because of it.

A good thing they were never able to torpedo HMT Queen Mary or Queen Elizabeth - they sometimes carried 16000 people when used as troopships during the war. They relied on their speed to avoid the U-boats; a gamble but fortunately a successful one.

Adrian,

The submarine that sank the Wilhelm Gustoff also sank the General Von Stueben with over 5000 lives lost.
According to Mike Kemble article, this sub caused the death of over 15000 people.
