Colin Falkland Gray

Born : New Zealand Group Captain Colin Falkland Gray was a New Zealander who came to England in December 1938. Gray joined the RAF in January 1939 then moved to No 54 Squadron on the 20th of November 1939 to fly the Spitfire I on fighter sweeps over France. His score rose quickly twice getting two kills in a day and, on the 18th of August 1940 he destroyed four Me 110's. During the Battle of Britain he shot down two enemy aircraft in a day on several occasions to give him a personal total at the end of the Battle of 16 confirmed and eight probables.
He retired in April 1961 to return to business life in New Zealand.
