Wreckage from Dambuster plane brings visitors to Stamford Museum - Rutland & Stamford Mercury Quote:
WRECKAGE from one of the famous Dambuster planes is one of the exhibits which have attracted hundreds of people to a museum over the summer. Stamford Museum is hosting the RAF Lincs exhibition, which details the force's history with the county, until Saturday, September 27.
Staff at the museum, in Broad Street, are delighted to be attracting around 100 people a day to admire the displays, which includes plane models and badges pilots gave to their sweethearts.
One of the star exhibits is pieces of the Lancaster piloted by WHT Ottley which went down en-route to the Lister Dam as part of the famous Dambuster bombings.
Community engagement officer Philippa Massey is delighted with the success of the exhibition.
She said: "Things are going very well, it has caused quite a lot of interest. We have had quite a few people through which have come specifically to see it."
Opening times are 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.
