Air Craft Serial Numbers

Here is another link that deals with serial numbers of American Air Craft of all years. If you scroll down towards the bottom and click on a link a list of serial numbers comes up. It gives the serial, type of air craft it was, what happened to it, and the MACR number.

USAAS-USAAC-USAAF-USAF Aircraft Serial Numbers--1908 to Present

I find it pretty interesting, hope you do too.

Regards,

Andy

That is a great site. I've used it before, and really wish there was a similar one for the RAF. Cheers Andy

Nearest I've found to this is the Bruce Robertson book, British Military Aircraft serial numbers, which I expect you've got. It doesn't give histories, but does match serial number to type.

Hi all

On my shelves I have "Avro Lancaster, The definitive record" by Harry Holmes. I used this when I was researching my late brother's aircraft in 166 Squadron.

I would be happy to look up any particular aircraft for fellow members

Regards

Ron

I have that too

The Air Britain series do go into more detail but to get the set is rather pricey (hence why I've resisted so far
