Stapleton wrote this - and there's a lovely recent photo of him. A few more wrinkles, and grey hair but he looks just the same:

Down to 143 from 175 in 2000 which is a loss of 32

As they get older the numbers per year deaths should sadly increase.

At the end of this year, there maybe only the low 130's remaining.

52nd Airborne believes Group Captain Byron Leonard Duckenfield 501Sqn Hurricanes is missing from the list. If missing from the latest list, there must be an anomaly somewhere as he is not on the 2000 list either.

Found this on a blog on my space and a great Wellington shot below.

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)
