Thanks Kyt,

Saved me a job.

I can't believe how many are on there.

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

What did the Australians do in ww2 and other conflicts? Check out this site:

I have not seen these for a while on TV. In the first one I noticed the Australians and the 6th division were not even mentioned in the taking of Bardia and Tobruk. (It was 30,000 "British" troops)

In the second the only mention of Australians said "Tobruk was manned by Australians", then went on to say the British Navy evacuated troops and they started to talk about the British Rats who denied Rommel the fortress.

Oh well....................................!

I have mentioned it elsewhere but I think that even though the series was/is excellent for its use of original footage and interviews of the participants, the actual historical content was clouded by the politics of its time, and has been superceded by 30 years of further research and writings.

In a number of episodes I have found the statements and conclusions made then to be either inaccurate or plainly false.

However, the series has become so ingrained in peoples' consciousness that any critiscism of it is considered blasphemy. But as I said - great for the footage and some of the interviews.

Bet if I used parts of that on my site, I'd get a warning from Thames tv.

I have the book of the series and will check out the relevant sections to see if they had been changed!

I don't see why - if you were to embed the youtube video. Any complaints for possible copyright infringement on youtube goes to them first. If and/or when a video is pulled, any embedded youtube videos on other sites merely state "video no longer available".

I have seen this on many sites, across many genres.

And to "embed" a youtube video:

Good point. I'll think about it, trouble is I am running out of free web space.
