BREW for the Few

Sounds like a good, and fun, idea

Brewing up tribute to RAF heroes - Harrogate Today

Quote:
A 'BREW for the Few' helped to raise over £160 for the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) Wings Appeal.
The tea party, held at the RAFA club in Harrogate on Sunday, was hailed a great success as guests gathered for tea, cakes, and shared memories.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Harrogate, Coun John Fox and Maggie Fox, were guests of honour at the event.

Organisers Kate Tyler and Derek Walker said: "It was a super occasion. Lots of people came along, from the air cadets of the 58th Squadron to WW2 veterans, ex-airmen, soldiers and Wrens, and serving members of HM Armed Forces.

"There was a lovely atmosphere and, of course, all the money raised will go towards the Wings Appeal. We will definitely be organising more next year."

Brew

The Brew for the Few Tea Party was one of a series of events held nationwide to raise funds for the Wings Appeal.

Every September similar events are held to commemorate the Battle of Britain and the sacrifices made by British forces.

The appeal allows them to continue their support of those who are serving or who have served in the Royal Air Force.

This year was a particularly special one for the Royal Air Force as it celebrated its 90th anniversary.

Commemorative services were held on Sunday at the Yorkshire Regional Airmen's Cemetery at Stonefall, and a Battle of Britain Service was held at St Peter's Church on Cambridge Street.

Tomorrow members of Harrogate and District branch will be taking to the streets of Harrogate, Knaresborough and Pateley Bridge as they ask members of the public to dig deep and donate funds.
