German Military Cemetery at Mont d'Huisnes

I am trying to find the burial place of David Hoost - he was sentenced to death and was executed by firing squad on 27 April 1944.
He was buried in the German section of the Strangers Cemetery at Westmount in Jersey Channel Islands
However, it would appear that all Germans who died during the occupation were (and also other nationalities) exhumed in the 1960's and their bodies moved to the German Military Cemetery at Mont d'Huisnes in France at the request of the German Government. They provided a list of the bodies and their locations and I can see on 27/4/1944 there is a H. David in the correct location. It would appear that the Christian name and surname were the other way around. He was on the list of bodies to be moved .... but I can't find him ... I'd appreciate any help please !

Are we sure of the surname as there isn't an approriate match on the Volksbund (German version of the CWGC)

However there is a Horst David,

date of birth - 21.07.1915
date of death - 27.04.1944

Buried Mont-de-Huisnes
Gruft (vault) 53 Grabkammer (grave chamber) 58

Well that was the spelling on all the papers I had K .... but your guy sounds like it could be him doesn't it ? I know for sure he was executed .... would he still be on the Volksbund do you think ?

Depends upon why he was executed but if the German policy is/was the same as the CWGC then the name would be imcluded.

I found only four Hoost's on the Volksbund, and none fit.

It's a long involved story but in a nutshell .... David Hoost ( ? ) shot a German officer - went to the home of my relative ... my relative gave him change of clothes .... my relative then was picked up and charged with aiding a German soldier to desert and was sent to a concentration camp where he died 3 weeks before liberation ..... as I said David Hoost didn't fare much better as he was executed ..... I tried to find the grave of David Hoost as he was buried in the German section of the Strangers Cemetery at Westmount in Jersey Channel Islands then I found out he was reinterred at German Military Cemetery at Mont d'Huisnes .... I wondered if I can find out the plot number ..... maybe I could get a photo of his headstone !

Ah, thanks for the background Annie.

Well much of Mont d'Huisnes is made up the Mausoleum , subdivided into Vaults (as you probably know). If this is your man, then his name plate will be on Vault 53 Grave Number 58

Hi

I've found a number of spelling errors in the records of the VDK (which is understandable considering the millions of names) so I'd say this is probably your man. If the date of death and location fit then that is a good match. His rank was Gefreiter, if that helps any further.

Nobody has mentioned that they have been to this cemetery yet ...... is it off the beaten path do you think ?
