Bourail (boo-rye) is a town of just 6000 people on the West Coast of New Caledonia - it is sister cities with Waimate, but its links with this country do not end there.
During the war it was a major base for Kiwi troops, but these days it is where New Zealand's Pacific casualties of WWII are buried.
Ali Ikram went there and met up with a local who has dedicated much of his life to preserving their memory.
