Owen are you looking for a bite mate, I am a highland Scot and proud of it. Unfortunately the Mods have not got a national flag for me yet.
Regards and many thanks
Hugh
I was going to warn him however I thought you were big enough and ugly enough to look after yourself!
Thought exactly that about the flag. I have been pushing on that basis for quite a while and Lee is looking into it.
Knowing who you are talking to and where they are from is quite important.

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."
(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)
Despite Owen's mistake, his comment re centuries still applies...LOL.
Sure does. Are we rubbing it in?

Did you notice the headlines that went with the BBC's coverage of the funeral of Sir Edmund Hillary?
From the BBC reporter:
Quote:
1953 was a great year for the United Kingdom. Queen Elizabeth was crowned, Sir Edmund Hillary conquered Mount Everest and England won the ashes!

I have always pondered about this gentlemen’s game they call cricket. Why do seemingly sane people pay good money to watch a gentleman (bowler) walk miles up the park (slowly) then comes tearing down said park at a rate of knots, then throws this ball at another gentleman with a bat who then taps the ball into the ground and the whole boring process starts again. Anyone?
Regards Hugh

Congratulations Hugh (I smiled at your being English!).
I can't bear watching cricket either.
The "sport" I really cannot understand though is fishing. Why not just sit on the riverbank (canal??? smelly artificial lake!!!!) and read, or whatever?

For my two friends in Oz, we have a man's game up here in the highlands called shinty, there are no prisoners taken in this game. There is a referee but I am not quite sure why he turns up! Howzat!
