Sounds to me like telling a long winded yarn!

Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

it comes from the old military thing about what action to take when someone starts telling war stories.

1) Put on Tin Helmet
2) Pull up a sandbag
3) Swing the Lamp!

Thank you and hello again...

It might be useful too clear something up here:

At times, there will be two of us writing posts here, myself (292138 is/was my service number) and Junior (lets call him '53'..his age!) as I am an old codger who has failing eyesight and arthritis in every joint! '53' owns the computer and allows me to play with it if I'm good.........

Right, both '53' and I are ex-Navy. He with the 'Andrew', me with the merchant service. I was ( *swing that lamp* ) a mere lad who saw service on deep sea recue tugs between 1943-47 as a 'greaser' on HMRT Destiny and later HMRT Goodwin. '53' is ex-Fleet Air Arm and saw his service firstly at HMTS Ganges as a mere lad and then with HMS Ark Royal and HMS Eagle, as a fireman.
Hope that clears things up and I ( and 53) look forward to chatting some more, but its time for breakfast now and he's cooking it, so later folks.
