Songs of War

This is my favourite song written for the Anzacs at Gallipoli in WW1.

YouTube - Eric Bogle - The Band Played Waltzing Matilda

Another version sung by Priscilla Herdman. (Great Rendition)

YouTube - WALTZING MY MATILDA

Which version do you prefer???

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

What did the Australians do in ww2 and other conflicts? Check out this site:

I have versions by Mike Harding and the dubliners, they are all good versions, with lots of emotion and feeling.

What are the songs that our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, and their loved ones, hold dear today?

Close call - both made me cry. Hard not to be affected by the visuals too. The line of guns and helmets was very moving but the child with the gun!!!!!
