Interesting, I thought 3 Sqn was a Hurri/Tiffie/Tempest squadron.

Ahhh, the second pic is probably not related to the first. Can't quite make oout the a/c in the background.

3 ITW was 3 Initial Training Wing (Aircrew Training Scheme) based in Torquay. It would explain the aircrew in the second picture. I have a feeling that "3 Squadron" refers to the class or something because if the photo was taken there then it's too early for them to have been assigned a squadron.
