The thoughts were echoed by a captured German officer struggling to explain how he found himself a prisoner of war:

" I cannot understand you Australians. In Poland , France and Belgium once the tanks got through the soldiers took it for granted they were beaten. But you are like demons. The tanks break through and your infantry keeps fighting."
I think that sums it up nicely.

Spidge, I liked the article on anti-intellectualism in your first link. Some interesting thoughts there.

All great inventions Spidge.........except inflicting the Speedo on the world. And it's a shame that the Lagerphone isn't used by more bands

But I this one - absolutely love it:

Quote:
1995 - Jindalee Radar System - The United States of America spent $11 billion developing an aeroplane that could not be detected by radar. Scientists at the CSIRO then concluded that if the plane could not be detected, perhaps the turbulance it makes passing through air could be. $1.5 million later, the Jindalee Radar system had transformed the stealth bomber into nothing more than an unusual looking aircraft.

Yes they sometimes have trouble not seeing the forest for the trees.

They just have to step out of that square sometimes.

and, it can only be good if a lot of money is spent on it!
