Sigh, go to sleep, Toor. At least you can cry yourself to sleep!

Geoff, I think Cappa always was a disgrace!

It's so nice to see Australian couples doing things together - it's true love

I could, I really want to but out of respect for all New Zealanders, I won't!

My Avatar is the memorial to the 22 Commonwealth Coastwatchers at the Temakin Cemetery on Betio (Tarawa Atoll) who were beheaded by the Japanese on 15th October 1942. http://www.dva.gov.au/media/publicat...mem_beito.html

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

What did the Australians do in ww2 and other conflicts? Check out this site:

Typical of the Aussie larrikin spirit is a story told to me by a mate's father who fought up the Kokoda Track with the 2/31 Battalion. When pushing the Japs back the Aussies would remove their webbing and borrow a mate's spare rifle magazine, then sneak up to where the Japs had halted for a meal. The Aussies would wait for them to be settled and eating then fire their rifles into the air and whoop and holler then race back to their lines. He'd break into gales of laughter telling how disturbed the Japs would be. "There'd be rice, dixies flying in all directions and the Japs would run about yabbering then get organised to attack us but by then we'd be back safe ready to have a crack at them as they came after us" he'd say. I asked why they didn't shoot the Japs and the old digger said ",,,if we did that then there'd be more for the others to eat as we knew how hungry they were after seeing what they'd been cooking and how this never let them really settle down as they'd always be on edge never knowing what we'd do next."

What is an Australian?
I know what it used to be when I was younger. Now it's close to being buggered up by morons who want to change everything to be like the countries they all fled from to start a new life here. Now I no longer know.

Oh don't tell me that this is our fault too.

We are way, way too busy messing our own country (and anywhere else Mr Blair has stuck his sticky little mitts) up.

I think we are doing rather a good job of it too!

One thinks of war as gruelling and hellish. Only the Aussies would think it a great game! Mad, they're all mad

Thanks Rod
