Pictures of African Americans During World War II America is a fascinating subject all by itself ... don't you think ?? Windrush West Indians Jamaicans in the RAF Barbadians in the RAF A Member of the RAF of Indeterminate Race Just a few of the threads regarding the great melting pot that was the RAF etc. Of course, you will have noticed that this forum is very focussed on recognising the unsung heroes.

Which reminds me .... we were researching a WW1 British regiment and found there were a lot of Americans on the rolls couldn't understand it until we saw the US draft papers and found they were all black and originally from Jamacia and Tobago etc ..... obviously had emigrated to America but wanted to fight for Britain .... fascinating stuff ..... it's things like that that side track me I'm afraid !! | |
