Thanks Owen. It is amazing how simple the panel is compared to, say. a Beaufighter (and the attachment is just the front panel!). Simple but still effective.

Yes it is Kyt.

It served the Commonwealth Forces and the cilvilian world very well as a basic trainer. As someone once said to me, "It's an easy aeroplane to fly....badly."

I have a Beaufighter cockpit shot that I'll dig out. It's an interesting one and you'll see why.

Cheers

Owen

Hi Owen,
Just read your story about the refurb Tiger.
You are obviously an aeronut, not a spelling mistake, as I am.
Unfortunately as a brown job the only time I flew in aircraft it was as a passenger.
Many different types inluding helicopters, which we had to absile from!
Your obvious enthusiasm has tempted me to try and get into my, freezing,
garage /workshop and restart again on the task of building of my 1/4 scale Lizzie.
She will be attired in a silver finish copying a training aeroplane of the London University O.T.C squadron.
Mainly because I fell in love with her in a book someone bought me a few birthdays ago.
When I checked her I.D. I discovered they had written her off in a crash.
The book if you are interested was " Great Aircraft of the World "
publisher Colour Library Books. the Kite was T7449 with RUL-A.
The model's present state is most framework finished, rudder and elevator, dressed in silver.Fitted the various controls, tried the engine and other bits and pieces for size. Can't find a 18" tall pilot.
I got onto the De Havlland Owners Club, and for a very small fee, they popped various bits of tiger in the post for me, full size, but that's no problem.
You can expect to see more progress pictures on my modelling site, if it is of any interest to you.
Looking through Airliners.net it would appear that there are more flying Tigers in Australia than in the UK.
Is yours a D.H.82a ?
Cheers have a fantastic New Year,
Keith

You're spot on about the number of Tigers flying down here, Keith. The last I heard, it was more than 200. I think the Kiwis do pretty well too.
