Colour pic of Adolf's 50th

This gentleman with an unhealthy interest in young children appears not to be enjoying his 50th birthday.

Some colour photos of Hitler have come to light:

Rare colour photograph of Hitler's birthday - Telegraph

I always picture him in grey, though I suppose thinking about it the few colour pics I have previously seen show him in brown. A much cosier colour.

Surely he must have been more impressive than this in real life; how could such a nondescript man wearing a hat several sizes too big get a whole nation so worked up?

I wonder if it will come to light who they are and if they are still living?

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor.
You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

The article suggests they are probably the children of senior Nazi officials. I had the horrible thought, that they may be some of the Goebbels children, who were poisoned by their mother in the Berlin Bunker in April 1945.

I hope I'm wrong. Maybe I'll try and find out whether apparent ages of these children fit the ages of the Goebbels children.

I actually find the pic rather creepy/freaky. In all seriousness, can't put my finger on why though.

Having said that, it would appear to be a valuable insight into the life of one of the 20th century's, if not of all time, most significant characters. Amazing to think what this "nondescript man wearing a hat several sizes too big" (great observation, AR) did to the world.

It wasn't until the last year that he started looking hagard (esp after July 20). Before then there are many pictures of him looking "healthy" and I think the paper is reading too much into that one picture.

For example here he is doing the jig at the news that France had surrendered:

Its got the feel of Michael Jackson photos hasn't it?

And the fact that this man, who took Europe into war and oversaw the deaths of millions, is seen holding the hands of little children.
