Question Kriegsmarine dagger

I have been given a Kriegsmarine dagger by a family friend this week. On the scabbard is engraved the name 'Zerhusen'. How would I set about finding out who he was?

Thanks!

Golly, the only thing I can think of is a roll of honouor or thereabouts for the Kriegsmarine. No idea where to find one of those!

It is incredibly difficult to get individual details from the German authorities. Even their roll of honour is difficult to use.

Basically, like for British personnel, I would say that at this time it just has to be accepted that it belonged to a serviceman, and hope that more of the files will be available in the future. But a lot of the German files were destroyed during and just after the war.

However, if you want to know about the dagger then there are very knowledgable people on Axis History Forum :: Index who could help you with dating it etc

The urban dictionary has a description of the name which is not too encouraging!

Urban Dictionary: zerhusen

At school my teacher used to encourage learning a new word a day. I don't think I want to do that anymore!
