Flying from Malta

Came across this interesting book, Whispering Death, to add to the list.

Dunno what it is about ops from Malta. They really push my buttons. And Beaus...well...

Unfortunate choice of title though:

Quote:
The title Whispering Death was the name given by the Germans to the Beaufighter
Err, no it wasn't - the name has usually, and erroneously, been attributed to the Beau being called that by the Japanese, but in fact was a propaganda name created by a RAF man who claimed that this is what the Japanese called it.

But the book looks very interesting - there is a mention of Heide in The Armed Rovers (which is an overall history of the Beaus in the Med). Damn, another book on the list. Cheers Andy. People can have a look inside the book on Amazon:

Not peace but a Sword arrived by surface mail while I was away. Hanging out for it as I managed to finally get Gibbs' Torpedo Leader a couple of months ago but not going to read it until I read 'Sword.

Armed Rovers should be turning up soon too! Scored it for US$3 plus $12.95 postage. Less than $20 in my money so happy with that!

I love that clip. It's a great counterpoint to the oft-seen:
