It mentions that the Green Goddesses were obsolete when sold off. Well, they might have been slower than modern day fire trucks but they have an awesome pump on them. Many are in preservation now and running around the UK on road rallies etc. I think the editor of the old truck magazine I get from the UK even bought one!
I honestly think they still would have been of some use to the UK. Their pumping abilities would have been very useful of late given the flooding. The 4WD Commers that were to accompany a column of Goddesses in the case of an emergency were good trucks but being support vehicles, they haven't been as useful or as popular. That said, fortunately there's a few of them getting around to shows etc.
Oh, and they're Bedfords!!!! Legendary.
