You're Top Poster: #9   | Red Arrows We have just said goodbye to our youngest grandaughter (4) who has been staying with us for a week. Her stops include some "must dos", one of which is going to one of the small airfields nearby and watching the small planes land and take off. We did Sywell this time. It was a beautiful day. I was explaining how brave young men learned to fly there a long time ago etc. etc. "Planes like this?" she asked. I told her about the Red Arrows thinking that it might be easier to undertsand. Lo and behold the very next morning she was treated to "her own flypast" right over our heads at home. She was mesmerised, they seemed to skim the treetops in perfect formation - amazing!!!!

You're Top Poster: #2  | One of those right place, right time moments. Wonderful. When I first moved to Bunbury in West Oz back in 98, I rode my bike out to the airport to see what was about. Literally as I turned into the entrance road, I saw an aircraft in the circuit and thought "Wow, that's a Dove (de Havilland)". Turned out to be the four-engined version, the Heron but refitted with Lycomings. She landed and blew a tyre so had to sit down the end of the runway till the next morning when I returned just in time to see her back track and park on the ramp. Still got the pics somewhere.
