Grumpy Old Man/Woman Rant

Have you had a Victor Meldrew moment? Have muttered under your breathe about the rubbishness of something? Did you come out with one of the many cliches - "They don't know they're alive", "In my day....", "What is the world coming to?" etc

If so, list them here ( so that the rest of us can laugh at you ). If you under the age of 36, you may apply for honourary membership of the Grumpy Club, but your initiation will be posting a convincing Grumpy Old... message.

Right, my first rant.

CCTV cameras!!! Popped out earlier for some milk and saw some workmen on the pavement blocking the way. So I asked them whatthey were doing and was told that they were soring out the wiring for a new CCTV camera on a pole. "But there's one over there!" I said, pointing to another one 10 yards away. I just got a shrug in reply.

So - why do we need SO many cameras watching every little thing that we do?

There are more in the UK than anywhere else in the world.

You chose dishonor and you will have war."

(Winston Churchill made this prophetic pronouncement in a House of Commons speech in 1938, just after Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Hitler. Chamberlain returned from Germany with the signed agreement in hand, proclaiming that "peace in our time" had been achieved. Churchill attacked Chamberlain's "politics of appeasement" in this and many other speeches.)

It is said that in certain parts of Britian, you are watched by over 100 CCTV cameras in a day!

What is the point, precisely, of teenagers going into a country park at night and getting so blotto they don't even know their own name? What is fun about getting drunk? I just don't understand it! all you are doing is making yourselves look like worse little inbred chavs than before!

And why precisely did you feel the need to pull the guttering apart as well?

I had to carry him home. It was bloody embarrassing.

What is with teenagers and sh*ts in their early 20s (and some try-hard 30 year olds and pre-teens!) and their insistence of spending more time in the mirror than their sisters and coming out with hair that is all over the place/spiky. I mean, I don't get it. What's so great looking like you just got out of bed?

My wife hip-and-shouldered the last bunch of teenage boys that filled the footpath in front of her and wouldn't move aside. She just ploughed through them. I followed in her wake with a steely gaze... It was like watching a game of skittles.

The lot that get me are those with the hair/spiked and dressed in the suit and tie that looks like it belonged to their grandfather in college.
