Advert - bad taste?

Is it just me or is the current Smirnoff ad in bad taste?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udMe7CZI2eo

Maybe I'm being over sensitive but the implications seems to be that aircraft and ships lost during the war are not pure and the oceans need to be purified of them. Considering the lives lost, and that most are war graves, I don't like that implication.

Any thoughts?

I can see your point however I took it as an overall dig at what has impacted on our oceans since mankind started to use them.

War graves aside, they were used as the local rubbish tip after the war, especially by the US.

Maybe so. But I just view it as the oceans used as a dump by mankind. Take away any context of what is being chucked out and it really is an amazing advert. However if anyone can give me an asnwer as to what it is that is arrowing into the cliff faces liek spears I would much appreciate it.

I am sure that it has more to do with the implication that the sea should be as pure as the vodka! Just look at it as a admans dream!

Also, I like that kind of vodka!

Yes, I know - probably being too sensitive. But in that case maybe they should have added the concrete encased barrels of radio-active material that was dumped too.

You have to remember that it was done by an ad company who may not know about the concrete encased low level radioactive waste!

Late night? There was a great programme on Ship's Engines at only 7 p.m.

As to the buttock smilie, I just couldn't resist being the first person to use it (but I've probably missed a previous use).

I saw the Smirnoff ad once, on Channel 4. This was while watching The IT Crowd - definitely the funniest thing on TV at the moment (though Not Going Out is good). I identify with the nerds, of course.
