The National Film Board of Canada has a new BETA SITE for the release of all their documentaries.

The earliest WWII film I found is about the Corvettes:

Action Stations by Joris Ivens, - NFB

I do hope this is just a start .... could be a great resource!

A Tribute to the Merchant Seamen of WWII

Even though it's Merchant Navy ... it may give you some ideas !!
