Federal government funding possible now:

Search for WWII ship Centaur being considered | NEWS.com.au

Quote:
...The Centaur's final resting place remains unknown, but it is believed the ship lies about 24 nautical miles off North Stradbroke Island.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh today said she hoped to make an announcement about state government assistance to find the ship in the next few weeks.

Federal Heritage Minister Peter Garrett, who visited Brisbane today, said he and Defence Personnel Minister Warren Snowden were looking into the project.

"We are considering this very closely and I expect to work with Mr Snowden on this issue - he managed the whole question about HMAS Sydney very well," Mr Garrett said.

"It's premature to be talking about funding at this point but what I can say is that we'll examine all issues around the Centaur very closely and the relevant minister, in this case Mr Snowden, will be actively involved with that."
