When I first moved to Bunbury in West Oz back in 98, I rode my bike out to the airport to see what was about. Literally as I turned into the entrance road, I saw an aircraft in the circuit and thought "Wow, that's a Dove (de Havilland)". Turned out to be the four-engined version, the Heron but refitted with Lycomings. She landed and blew a tyre so had to sit down the end of the runway till the next morning when I returned just in time to see her back track and park on the ramp. Still got the pics somewhere. |
