You're Top Poster: #2 | Memorial service to be held over wreck site http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...16/2218010.htm Quote:
A ship carrying relatives of the men who died aboard HMAS Sydney has travelled to the site of the wreckage for a dawn commemorative service.
Minister for Defence Personnel Warren Snowden and the German ambassador to Australia are also aboard the ship, along with members of the Finding Sydney Foundation who located the wreckage last month.
The Navy Vice-Admiral aboard the ship, Russ Shalders, expects an emotional service.
"[It's] a partly religious service but more a naval serviceof respect, which will include a number of ceremonial aspects," he said.
"The ship's accompanier HMAS Anzac will be paraded, and we'll have the last post."
"Everybody's very proud, I think, that they're able to take part in this service.
"This has been a mystery for our navy for such a very long time. Now as we get closer towards solving that mystery, I think everybody feels its a very historic moment."
