| Both the Japanese and the Americans analysed Taranto. There was a call amongst some at Pearl Harbor for torpedo nets to be put in place but were ignored.
I can't remember where I read it but I believe that Yamamoto's Chief of Staff, Admiral Matome Ugaki. was actually in Taranto, or in Italy anyway, at the time of the attack, and so could report back with details.
