    DefaultDebach Airfield, Suffolk UK

Went to a chicken/Duck producing place to-day to repair a pump, situated next to Debach Airfield. Thought these pics might interest a few, especially our American cousins. Debach Airfield was home to 493rd Heavy Bomber group 1944-45. 157 missions being flown from there. It was used a POW camp and then displaced persons camp after the war, being abandoned in 1948. Pictures of control tower (from a distance) the only runway or part of that remains and 2 sections of perimeter road.

The Control tower houses an EXCELLENT volunteer-run museum dedicated to the men of the 493rd BG which were based here. They also have an impressive assortment of other displays in adjacent buildings and are currently expanding these.
